Shell Test

The Shell Test or Body Test validates the strength and soundness of the valve pressure-containing structure. This is a kind of pressure test where normally air, inert gas, water, kerosene, etc. are used as a test fluid. Most of the Valve Inspection and Testing procedures are driven by the API 598, and ASME B16.34 standards. Valve leakage is tested using either Hydrostatic Shell Test or a Pneumatic Valve Test, and the results can vary depending on the techniques of the tester. No leakage is allowed in this Valve Shell Test.
